MAINE MCDONALD’S® SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR
SPIRIT OF THE GAME AWARD

and
TEAM OF THE YEAR AWARD
Nomination deadline is February 8, 2013.

AUBURN, Maine (Jan. 18, 2013) – Organizers of the Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games are seeking nominations for two awards - the Maine McDonald’s® Spirit of the Game Award and the Maine McDonald’s & Maine Red Claws Team of the Year Award. Recipients will be announced at the Maine McDonald’s All-Star Games at Husson University in Bangor scheduled for March 8 and 9, 2013. The deadline to receive nominations for both awards is February 8, 2013. Nomination forms can be completed electronically at http://vote.mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org/.  

Maine McDonald’s® Spirit of the Game Award

The Maine McDonald’s® Spirit of the Game Award honors two high school seniors – one from the East division, one from the West - who embody the spirit of the sport, exemplify sportsmanship, support and inspire their teammates and coaching staff, and show an ability to overcome obstacles and boundaries. The award honors 2009 recipients Joshua Titus of Auburn and Patrick Thibodeau of Cumberland. Titus has overcome the challenges of autism and Thibodeau has Downs Syndrome.

Maine McDonald’s & Maine Red Claws Team of the Year Award

The Maine McDonald's & Maine Red Claws Team of the Year Award honors two Maine high school varsity basketball teams – one boys and one girls – that have made an exceptional impact on Maine High School Basketball and in the lives of others through:

  • Contribution to Community 
  • Exemplifying Sportsmanship 
  • Team Competitiveness and Spirit
  • Commitment to Academic Excellence

Nomination Process

Coaches, parents, principals, community organizations, athletic directors and sports fans are encouraged to submit a nomination form for either or both awards. Spirit of the Game and Team of the Year nomination forms can be completed electronically at http://vote.mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org/.   Or, to request a nomination form, call Kevin Mitchell at (207) 755-9470, ext .105.  The deadline to receive nominations is February 8, 2013.

The 2013 Maine McDonald's High School Senior All-Star Games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 9. 

The game-day program will feature competition between top players in the state's A/B and C/D Boys

and Girls divisions.  All-Star players, coaches, All-State Academic teams, Regional Foul

Shooting Champions and Mr. and Miss Basketball will be honored at the awards banquet on

Friday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m.

2017 Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Teams, Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball Semifinalists Announced

PORTLAND, Maine – At news conferences in Portland, Augusta and Bangor today, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) announced the AA/A/B North and South, and C/D North and South player selections for the 2017 Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All- Star Basketball Games.

Players representing more than 100 high schools from across the state have been honored with selection to the All-Star teams. The All-Stars were selected based upon ballot returns in a statewide high school basketball coaches’ vote conducted by the MABC in January.

BANGOR, Maine (March 8, 2014) -- Today, the Boys A/B West Senior All-Star Team took it to the hoop and defeated the Boys A/B East All-Star Team by a score of 143-115  at the Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games held at Husson University in Bangor.

Bangor, Maine (March 8, 2014) -- The Maine State Foul Shooting Champions were decided on today at the Maine McDonald's High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games at Husson University in Bangor.     

Emily Keene of Spruce Mountain High School H.S. hit 44 out of 50 shots winning the Maine State Foul Shooting competition for the girls. Carmen Bragg from Washburn High School was second, hitting 43 of 50.

BANGOR, Maine (March 8, 2014) -- Today, the Girls A/B West Senior All-Star Team took it to the hoop and defeated the Girls A/B East All-Star Team by a score of 83-44 at the Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games held at Husson University in Bangor.

Maine Red Claws/Maine McDonald’s Team of the Year Award Recipients Announced; The Team of the Year Award is based on community service, sportsmanship and academic excellence.

BANGOR, Maine (March 7, 2014)– This evening, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) unveiled the recipients of the 2014 Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball. The announcement was made at the Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games awards banquet at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.

Allie Clement of Catherine McAuley High School was crowned Miss Maine Basketball.  Mr. Basketball honors went to Dustin Cole of Bonny Eagle High School.

BANGOR, Maine (March 7, 2014) -- The Maine McDonald's® Owner/Operators Association tonight announced the recipients of the 2014 Maine All-State Academic Scholarship. Mikayla Turner of Messalonskee High School and Erik Taylor of Spruce Mountain High School each received a $2,000 scholarship award at the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) Awards Banquet at Husson University.

BANGOR, Maine (March 7, 2014) – This evening, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) presented its prestigious D. Robert Brown Contributor Award to legendary coach Ron Cote of Biddeford. The award was presented at the 2014 Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games banquet in Bangor.

Each year, MABC’s All-Star Games Committee selects an honoree who has made a significant contribution to the sport of basketball in Maine.
