Portland, Maine – In Portland today, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) announced the A/B West and C/D West player selections for the 2013 Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games.
At concurrent news conferences in Augusta and Bangor, the A/B and C/D East players were also announced. Players representing 67 high schools from across the state have been honored with selection to the All-Star teams. The All-Stars were selected based upon ballot returns on a statewide high school basketball coaches’ vote conducted by MABC in January.
"Since 1988, the local Owner/Operators of Maine's McDonald's restaurants have been committed to recognizing student athletes across the state with this hallmark sporting event,” said Susan Soule, of the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Maine Board of Trustees. “We salute the Maine McDonald's All-Star Team players for their dedication to academic and athletic excellence, sportsmanship and team spirit. 2013 Maine McDonald's High School Senior All-Star Games Schedule
The 2013 Maine McDonald's High School Senior All-Star Games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 9. The game-day program will feature head-to-head competition between top players in the state's A/B and C/D Boys and Girls divisions.
The March 9, 2013 Game Day Schedule is as follows:
- 8:30 – 9:00 am State Foul Shooting Championship
- 9:15 -10:30 am Boys C/D Game
- 10:30 - 10:45 am Slam Dunk Competition
- 11:00 - 12:15 pm Boys A/B Game
- 12:15 - 12:30 pm MABC Presentations
- 12:45 - 2:00 pm Girls A/B Game
- 2:00 - 2:15 pm Three Point Shooting Competition
- 2:30 - 3:45 pm Girls C/D Game
All-Star players, All-Star coaches, members of the All-State Academic teams, Regional Foul Shooting Champions, Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award recipients, the MABC Contributor Award honoree, and Mr. and Miss Basketball will be recognized at an awards banquet on Friday, March 8, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Husson University’s Newman Gymnasium.
Game Day tickets may be purchased at the door on Saturday, March 9th and are good for all four Games. Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and children. More information about the Maine McDonald’s All-Star Basketball Games is available at www.mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org.
The 2013 All-Star Games marks McDonald’s 25th consecutive year as lead sponsor of this event. Net proceeds from the Games benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of Maine.
